Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (hereinafter referred as CSR) in simple terms, can be defined as corporate’s responsibility towards society. The World Business Council for Sustainable Development defines it as “the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.” CSR has become more and more popular in the business community the world over. It has taken on the character of strategically planned actions that profit all levels of society,and has provided benefits for stakeholders’ communities as well as that of the government.
