Abstract

Sound commercial banking system is an essential prerequisite for the economic development of a backward economy. Commercial banking system can’t be recognized as an end to achieve economic objective but may be taken as a means to fulfill the economic objects as determined by the policy makers. The performance and activities conducted by these banks were significant and beneficial for improving economical condition. Commercial banks after nationalization played an important role in improving economy. This article focuses on role played by commercial banks.
