Abstract

Empowerment is the process which creates power in women over their own lives, society and communities. It means freedom of women from the vicious circle of social, political, economic and gender-based biasness and discrimination. It shows their ability to access the opportunities available to them without limitations and restrictions. Making women aware of their rights and developing confidence in them – is a central issue which should be taken up seriously. Skills development is a key to improving household productivity, employability and income earning opportunities for women. The aim of skill development is not just simply preparing them for jobs; but also to boost their performance by improving the quality of work in which they are involved.
