Abstract

Hypertension reigns as a leading cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) have emerged as a central common pathway by which disparate influences may induce and exacerbate hypertension. Potential sources of excessive ROS in hypertension include nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase, mitochondria, xanthine oxidase, endothelium-derived NO synthase, cyclooxygenase 1 and 2, cytochrome P450 epoxygenase, and transition metals. While a significant body of epidemiological and clinical data suggests that antioxidant-rich diets reduce blood pressure and cardiovascular risk, randomized trials and population studies using natural antioxidants have yielded disappointing results.

Interest Free Banking has been accepted the world over except INDIA, not only in countries where Muslims are in absolute majority but in countries where they are in minority. The reason being it has its advantage over conventional banking system, the advantage of doing business without the hassle of ‘interest’ element. Interest is a deterrent whereas ‘sharing profit’ is a logical reasoning. Interest Free Banking is not only for Muslims, it is for one and all, irrespective of any religion. In countries like Indonesia and Malaysia almost forty percent of the customers are non-Muslims. India needs to clean-up the illusions and myths that have become hurdles to accepting a system which the world has acknowledged.

Abstract

Histories of the Delhi Sultanate are usually organised into rather simple binaries: years of centralised governance of the Sultans of Delhi are measured against years of decentralised rule under the ‘regional’ Sultanates. Historians frequently arrange their narratives to describe the origin-apogee-decline career graph of the Sultanate where ‘stasis and decline’ is usually the chapter before the epilogue on the years after the Timurid invasion (1398/99) and the fragmentation of the Tughluqid dominion. The inordinate persistence of this representation is surprising, not least of all because it is in the face of some recent scholarship on the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, not least of all Dirk Kolff and Simon Digby. Dirk Kolff’s observations on the culture of service, naukarī, the search for military employment compensated by a salary and/or other social and political rewards, was placed as a distinguishing feature of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, setting this period apart from the one prior to Timur’s invasion. In Kolff’s analysis, neither the decline of the Sultanate nor Timur were primary contributors to the making of this new political culture.

Relationship marketing has suddenly grown as a new method of management . The value of relationships in these markets move attempts to implement similar task in mass consumer markets where customer expectations and competitive pressures were increasing . The RM concept as an alternative to the ‘exchange’- based paradigm of marketing .Vast reductions in the cost of information technology brought promise that relational strategies might be extended to all customers. Unfortunately, the application of technology in these markets has not been unproblematic, perhaps because the focus has shifted to technology at the cost of remembering the ideal. Moreover information technology literature, information systems were imposed that may be incompatible culture, capabilities and systems.

Abstract

Major characteristic of a telecommunication system is unquestionably its information-carrying capacity. Though, capacity is the priority for system users, but the extent of limit is decided by the Shannon-Harley theorem. The capacity is proportional to its bandwidth, which in turn is proportional to the frequency of the carrier. High-speed communication systems use light-as a carrier with the highest frequency among all the practical signals. This demands the use of Guiding media-fibre, high sensitivity detectors, receivers and switches. The explosive growth of Internet traffic, deregulation and the increasing demand of users, therefore, require more bandwidth, which is controlled only by optical networks which can deliver the required capacity. The physics of such optics based telecommunication systems involve some fundamental concepts such as light scattering, superposition of waves, optical excitations of electrons in semi-conducting crystals and in glasses. The art of optical communication using fibre optical cable for information exchange is one of the recurring themes of this paper.

Abstract

A distributed application is built upon several layers. At the lowest level, a network connects a group of host computers together so that they can talk to each other. Network protocols like TCP/IP let the computers send data to each other over the network by providing the ability to package and address data for delivery to another machine. Higher-level services can be defined on top of the network protocol, such as directory services and security protocols. Finally, the distributed application itself runs on top of these layers, using the mid-level services and network protocols as well as the computer operating systems to perform coordinated tasks across the network.

Abstract

In this paper, a non-linear mathematical model is proposed and analyzed to study the survival of a biological population (Plants, trees etc.) when it is affected by a toxicant (pollutant), emitted into the environment from external sources. It is shown that as the rates of emission and formation of a toxicant in the environment increases, the density of the plant population settles down to lower equilibria than their initial carrying capacity and their magnitude decreases as the equilibrium level of toxicant increases.

Abstract

The term osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) was introduced by König in 1887 (König F. 1887). This is primarily a condition affecting the subchondral bone and later the articular cartilage. OCD is seen in many joints and typically on the convex joint surfaces. If the lesion does not heal, the bony part will gradually detach from the underlying bone and eventually the overlying cartilage will separate from the surrounding cartilage. Finally, the fragment may detach completely and become one or more free fragments in the joint cavity leaving an osteochondral defect in the joint surface. The ending ”-itis” indicates that the condition originally was believed to be inflammatory. Later, several causes have been postulated, including inflammation, genetics, ischemia, defective ossification, and repetitive trauma. Still the etiology of OCD is not unequivocally settled. Experimentally an OCD-like condition has been created in growing pigs by cutting the blood supply to the growing cartilage (Ytrehus et al. 2004), and repetitive trauma may also induce the lesion (Cahill 1995).

Azadirachta indica, Aloe vera, Elettaria cardamomum, Curcuma longa, Coriandrum sativum, Emblica officinalis are common medicinal plantsused in traditional Indian medicine for the treatment of various diseases. These plants were selected to evaluate their potential antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial activities and phytochemicals in crude methanolic extractsof six medicinal plants used in Indian medicine were determined byagar well diffusion and broth dilution techniques against gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Staphylococcus aureus) and gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The antimicrobial activities of the extracts were inferred by the diameter of zone of inhibition against test strains. Results showed that the methanolic extract of Aloe vera exhibited significant antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative strains. . The methanolic extract of the Aloe vera showed the inhibition having maximum antimicrobial activity against S.aureus and P.aeruginosa showing 15mm zone of inhibition .The presence of phytochemicals such as Flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, reducing sugars, soluble phenols, saponin, alkaloids, steroids and glycosides in the extracts of these plants supports their traditional uses as medicinal plants for the treatment of various diseases. The present study reveals potential use of these plants for developing new antibacterial compounds against pathogenic microorganisms.

But there is so much confusion on what is the supreme purpose for the attainment of which all the rest exists? And it is useless to consider schemes of organisation and methods of instruction and methods of instructions until we have got before ourselves clear objectives.

Since the closing decade of the eighteenth century, nature has been one of the most recurrent themes of English and American poetry. The chief exponent of this subject William Wordsworth, explored its utmost philosophical limits and in doing so set a trap of convention for the succeeding generations of poets. From him down to the Victorian poets in England and through them to Boyant and Emerson in America, every poet faithfully and at times exasperatingly echoed some of the notable aspects of his attitude towards nature.
