Abstract

What actually is community education? How does it differ from education in the community, or education for community? We explore the theory of community education and some examples of practice using resources from the encyclopedia of informal education. In England, and many other countries, community education has tended to be wrapped up with the idea of community schooling and especially the pioneering work of Henry Morris around village colleges. More recently, however, there has been a growth of interest in the related idea of full-service schooling and of new community schools . With this has come a deepening of community education theory and practice.

Selection of repair material is one of the most important tasks for ensuring durable and trust worthy repair. Though, the pre-requisite for a sound repair system is the detailed investigation and determining the exact cause of distress, yet an understanding of the process of deterioration of the repair materials (such as concrete and other auxiliary materials i.e. plastics, resins, etc) under service conditions is vital. Of course, availability of materials of relevance, equipment and skilled labour have to be explored before deciding upon the repair material

Renewable energy sources are fundamental for an environment-friendly energy supply. Today, the most important renewable energy sources are hydro power and bio energy. Moreover, the installed wind power capacity was over 30 GW worldwide by the end of 2002, and wind power is today the fastest growing electricity generation technology. However, the intermittent nature of wind makes power system operation especially challenging. Rapid and flexible control of other generators is required to balance wind power generation with demand. In addition, the best wind resources are often found in rural areas far from existing high- capacity transmission lines.

Any society consists of men as well as women and can not be complete without both of them. Many revolutions have taken place, woman has emerged as a liberated woman and yet we find man to be the dominating figure since time immemorial, though weightage to his role varies from time to time. In Narayan’s novels, in his world of Malgudi, Male characters dominate as the stories are the stories of ‘heroes’ – men.

Abstract

The first part dealt with the sterility of the land and love where love has lost the power to redeem and invigorate the times. This part builds on the same theme but is not as extensive as the first part. From what I could grasp, there are two broad stanzas with different context and narrator all reinforcing the theme of lust, breakdown and drudgery in marriage . The first stanza opens with opulent setting where a wealthy lady sits on a high chair in a room stocked with all the paraphernalia of the rich society. The room is filled with big paintings on the walls, perfumes that pervades the room, ivory vials of exotic scents that fill the satin cases. The lady herself is covered with glitter from all the jewels she is wearing. The setting though luxuriant looks artificial and of decay and decadence. The spirits are all confused and troubled by the fresh air coming from the open window (metaphor on state of disarray inside due to the incoming fear of the unknown). The whiff of air flatten the candles that burn and smoke fills the grand room. The setting shows the lives of the high society who though are free from the grinding of the daily struggle still face the emotional and sexual collapse due to self absorption. The painting of Philomela, a character out of Ovid’s Metamorphoses is hung on the wall. Philomela is raped by her brother-in-law Tereus, who then cuts her tongue out to keep her quiet.

Abstract

The novel confirms the viewpoints of most of the renowned ecofeminists that women are invested with a mission to save and nurture nature. Chris Cuomo, an American ecofeminist, observes, “Environmental ethics can benefit by incorporating feminist insights on the limitations of traditional philosophical conceptions of ethics”. Feminism and ecological communities. London: Routledge Publication., p. i). This key feature of ecofeminism can be studied through Rukmani, the principal protagonist of the novel who, as representative of the third world woman peasant, is very much associated with nature. The novel centers on Rukmani; she marries Nathan, a tenant farmer, poor in a material sense but rich in love and care. In the novel, Rukmani is strongly associated with nature; she nurtures and cares the field like her own child. The tannery, in her experience, is a catastrophe that falls upon the village, not only disturbing the simple, primitive, traditional, agrarian oriented families, but also the pastoral land of the village.

Much debate continues in the current literature concerning the ideal method for ACL reconstruction. Among strong advocates for both patellar and hamstring tendon grafts, some suggest that the patellar tendon provides better stability, and others point to lower incidence of anterior knee pain with the hamstring tendon graft (Aune et al. 2001, Freedman et al. 2003, Johnson 2004, Matsumoto et al.2006, Paessler et al. 2003).

The partitioning of metals between dissolved and particulate phases critically influences metal transport, reactivity and bioavailability. It is widely recognized that metal bioavailability and toxicity are not determined merely by the total dissolved metal among various inorganic and organic metal species governs bioavailability, which is related to the free metal concentration or activity rather than to the total, dissolved metal concentration. Thus the deterious effects of metal toxicity can be mitigated by complexation of the metal with organic and inorganic legends. This study concerns the effects of metal speciation on the biogeochemical cycling of metals become increasing by important as evidence for metal complexation in natural water accumulate.
