It is observed that the present outcome is the end result of a mix of symptoms – quite different from earlier one. Should a time interval of two decades is long enough to test the buoyancy of measures adopted in 1990’s – mainly the LPG (the choomantra) thought to be solving the problem however, Indian economy reluctantly accepted under the duress of International Financial Agencies to overcome financial payments defaults.

Investing in education will yield a favourable return is known to all, yet today we need to write about this is ironical in itself.

Abstract

Jeremy Bentham in his book “Theory of Legislation” wrote that the object of giving power to the owner to dispose off his property by testamentary disposition is to cure the imperfection or inability of law to satisfy individual demands which may be diverse. He states that “The law, not knowing individuals, cannot accommodate itself to the diversity of their wants. All that can be exacted from it is to offer the best possible chance of satisfying those wants. It is for each proprietor, who can and who ought to know the particular circumstances in which those dependent upon him will be placed upon his death, to correct the imperfection of law in all those cases which it cannot foresee. The power to make a will is an instrument intrusted to the hand of the individual, to prevent the private calamities” .

A team is not new to anyone of us. We played in teams in our school, some of us captained our teams and some of us were kept out of the team where we wanted to be a part. So, from our childhood, the idea of team has been engrained within us. We found meaning in it and developed our self identities around it. But then why is there this new clamour of team in organisations? Globalisation and rapid changes in external environments has compelled us to find new ways to remain competitive. Hence, organisations have continued to decentralise and re-engineer their business processes. They also downsize, and empower their employees far more than it ever did. To facilitate these changes and gain a competitive edge, managers are increasingly turning to team structures. Perhaps we have realised that the underlying potential of human spirit which compelled each one of us to sink all our differences and give all our energy to score that one goal or make that last run is what the organisations have failed to tap.

Accounting can be divided into several fields including financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, and tax accounting. Financial accounting focuses on the reporting of an organization''s financial information, including the preparation of financial statements, to external users of the information, such as investors, regulators and suppliers; and management accounting focuses on the measurement, analysis and reporting of information for internal use by management. The recording of financial transactions, so that summaries of the financials may be presented in financial reports, is known as bookkeeping, of which double-entry bookkeeping is the most common system. Although financial accounting produces past-oriented reports, it is based on generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted accounting practices compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards/US GAAP. In order to prepare the financial accounts/reports an entity has to comply with these GAAPs and gaaps. Which of these accounting practices and principles the board of directors choose at the start of the financial period and whatever changes in these generally accepted accounting principles and practices are implemented during the accounting period, affect the entity´s economy and affect the financial accounts (financial reports) prepared at the end of the financial period. When all entities implement the same change during the financial year as required by IFRS/US GAAP, then that affects the entire economy.

Anita Desai has always revelled in exploring the deeper recesses of human subjects and tried to bring out the grimmer and challenging aspects of their lives. Anita Desai has inarguably made yeoman service in adding new vistas in thematic treatment of existential issues dogging the common strata of society. Her novels create evocative and deeply moving narratives of individual lives caught in the throes of socio-cultural and existential dilemma. The helplessness and fallibility of Human beings form bedrock of her existentialist approach to work. She lends her women characters a voice and an audience by dramatizing ‘mute miseries and helplessness of married women’. Desai has created a virtual storyboard of feminism by capturing for posterity, the emotional upheavals of women, encompassing the varied strains of feminine sensibility. Her characters embody the bland absurdity of life. Her women wilfully choose the sterner options and the darker alleys in abject rejection with little choice whatsoever, bringing to life a ‘tragic vision’.

The digital revolution has also changed the face of fashion. Initially suspicious about the trend, the fashion houses are nowadays fully committed to the digital world, constantly reinventing them and telling more and more upscale stories. Vogue and W Magazine, creating the legendary Style.com website- virtual bible of the fashion sphere- have convinced the high-end brands to be present on the Internet to the detriment of their survival. According to a recent study, the shoppers are “accustomed to having new styles in the stores all the time, and this is forcing luxury brands to be more similar to Zara and H&M in the way they emphasize newness, entertainment and the in-store experience”. The brands have to start rethinking the way they market their collection by creating new consumer experiences.
