Abstract

[A peculiar characteristic of hill agriculture-prevalent from Kashmir in the west to Arunachal in the east - is the important role assigned to women. In the difficult terrain no single economic activity can sustain the household. Typically, there is a ‘basket’ of economic pursuits – cultivation, cattle rearing, outside employment, perhaps some trade-that requires the equal participation of women. Thus, the women of the house are also equal partners in the struggle to achieve economic security. Their labour is no way less valued than that of male members. They work equally with men in the fields, help them in looking after domestic animals and, of course, take physical care of husband and children. Except ploughing, a wife does virtually everything to help her husband cultivation, which (elsewhere) are the men’s task].

Abstract Franklin D. Roosevelt once said that we may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future. To ensure that no child remains devoid of a good beginning in life the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child came into being in 1989. India, the second most populous country in the world and a signatory to the convention, could play a crucial role in helping the convention achieve its desired goals. The research paper begins with an attempt to trace the journey of child rights towards international recognition and makes a critical evaluation of various constitutional and legal mechanisms put in place by the Indian state to ensure its compliance with the convention.

Abstract

Poverty in fact is a socio-economic phenomenon that is intimately associated with inequality. It adversely affects human health, efficiency and productivity which in turn affect their income. It deprives a segment of society of bare necessities of life- food, clothing, housing, education and health. Poverty is more of social marginalization of an individual, household or group in the community/society rather than inadequacy of income to fulfill the basic needs. Indeed, inadequate income is therefore one of the factors of marginalization but not the sole factor. The goal of poverty alleviation programme should aim merely increasing the income level of individual, household or group but mainstreaming marginalized in the development process of the country.. The rapid economic growth process should accelerate the access to services like education and health services for all, especially the marginalized citizens. In India, even now in spite of all the development during the past five and a half decades, 35 percent of the population was getting less than $ 1 (PPP) a day. This percentage of population was considered to be poor on an international criterion suggested by World Development Report. So this paper is an attempt to study national policies, plans and programs for poverty eradication.

Graffiti is also a form of self expression. The art as ‘writing’ is a creative method of communicating with other writers and the general public. What it communicates is the artist’s identity, expression, and ideas. Judgments are based solely on one’s artistic ability. Man is an indivisible integration of body, mind and soul, and education must attempt to strengthen this integration. The whole man should have a whole education. Any narrow interpretation of term ‘education’ so as to mean curriculum followed in school, extent of schooling or development of intellectual aspect alone would defeat the very purpose of education. No individual, no community, no nation can depend upon one aspect of life for the whole of living. Sports involve extremely complex behavioral issues. As a consequence of intense competition sportsman’s behavior may also undergo important changes. No training in the sports field is complete without reference to the psychological study and training of athletes. All other factors as like biological and sociological being equal, psychological conditioning of an athlete decidedly determines his success or failure in the competition.
