The physics of interacting many particle systems offers a wide range of challenging prob- lems. The nature of a problem and its solution, in general, depends upon the nature of the constituent particles and interaction among them. In real life, every problem is a many body problem, be it within the domains of the natural sciences or otherwise. Our interest here is, of course, in the rich variety of interesting phenomena observed in the condensed matter laboratories, and in the questions raised thereby. The fact that each constituent strongly influences other constituents, and the number of constituents in a given system is infinitely large, gives rise to new states of matter which otherwise would not have existed. In short, ‘More is Different’ is the basic theme of the condensed matter physics which brings excitement in pursuing the many body problems, despite the fact that they are usually very difficult.
