Abstract
Population geography is a division of human geography that focuses on the study of people, their spatial distributions, their characteristics, and their density. It is the study of the ways in which spatial variations in births, deaths, and the distribution, composition, migration, and growth of populations are related to place. Population geographers seek to understand the society around them, the structure of a population, and how populations change through population movements and processes. Population geography reflects the diversity of geography, while also being closely related to demography and spatial demography. The subdiscipline has increasingly adopted new theoretical viewpoints in order to remain relevant.
