Abstract

In the mycorrhizal association fungal hyphae absorb minerals from a large area of soil and hand over to the roots. Absorption of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium is enhanced more than three times. Organic remains are decomposed minerals are liberated and some times it secretes some antimicrobial substances. The mycorrhizal association allows the plants to grow in mineral deficient soils, saline soils, semi arid areas and unfavourable pH and temperature. The most common vegetable of this area are Momordica charantia, Trichosanthes dioca, Colocasia antigorum and Dolichos lablab.
