SOIL CLASSIFICATION OF NAUGACHIA SUB-DIVISION IN BHAGALPUR DISTRICT

Abstract

Soil classification of Bihar was carried out by geographers like P. Dayal, E. Ahmed, R. P. Singh, Anil Kumar and G. N. Singh. These classifications were based on different criteria. P. P. Jha, Singh Sahay and Sahi and other scientists from Sabour Agriculture College developed detailed classification. Soils of Naugachia Sub-Division is of recent origin deposited mainly bye Ganga and the Kosi. These soils may be grouped into five associations and a umbers of soil series. The Soil Associations are : Parsadih – Mairwa – Narayanpur – Kamlakund – Motichak – Milki – Sarsawa, Milki – Ratanpur – Sripur, Paharpur – Herio – Sripur and Sakrawan – Jogia – Khanpur – Gopalpur
