Abstract

The social and economic development of women is imperative for the overall development of a society or country. In traditional Indian societies, women have been confined to the four walls of their houses. Nevertheless, in the modern society, women have gradually come out of the four walls to participate in all types of activities including entrepreneurship or free/private enterprise. In India, empowerment of women through entrepreneurship has become an integral part of developmental efforts for three significant reasons: women development, economic growth and social stability. This paper indicates and emphasizes the women entrepreneurs as the potentially emerging human resource in the 21st century.
