SHYNESS BETWEEN WORKING AND HOME MAKING WOMEN IN CONTEXT OF WORKING STATUS, SEX-ROLE ORIENTATION AND MENTAL HEALTH

Abstract

The present study was conducted on 100 working and 100 home making women equal in respect of androgynity & sex-typed, sound and poor mental health respectively. The purpose was to examine the impact of working status, sex-role orientation and mental health on shyness. Shyness, sex-role orientation, mental health were measured using Akhtar's Shyness Scale, Sinha's Masculinity Femininity Check List and Mental Health Check List respectively. The obtained data, on the basis of administration of Shyness Scales on six different groups, were analysed using chi-square and r-test respectively. The results revealed that working status, androgynity and poor mental health all influence significantly the shyness amongst women.
