IDENTITY FORMATION THROUGH PRESENTATION OF PROFILE BY THE USER OF FACEBOOK

Abstract

This study is about to understand the presentation of the users through their profile. Identity formation on social network is new trend among the internet users. This notion develops a concern for the researcher also to examine the nature of the users on the site. So this study is to know the self-identity or self-discloser of the Facebook user in the virtual world. Method for the data collection was Content analysis, 80 facebook users was selected between the period of seven days from March 15 to 21(2013). Key findings suggest that users are very conscious about their self-discloser through their basic information and age was not found the main factor to engage with virtual world.
