Abstract

Majority ofRenewable Energy System (RES) operates on isolated mode and the battery storage device is one of its major part to store the energy for off-peak hour supplies. Many battery charging methods are incorporated for optimal use of battery and temperature is one of key factor for enhancing the life cycle of the battery. An existing closed loop PID controller system addressing controlled temperature charging of Li-Ion battery is considered for analysis. Development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, the charging time can be considerably reduced within permissible limit of battery temperature rise. Fuzzy logic control (FLC) is one of the most efficient technique, which incorporates human knowledge to address complex non-linear problems.
