PASTORALISM OF KULLU HILLS

This paper describes the basic features of pastoralism in Kullu hills, how they practiced livestock rearing and pasturing activities, in entire year according to agricultural and ecological calendar and how they are facilitated and accommodated by forester in forest resources usages. Historical context of pastoralism in Kullu too, is explored in this paper and ethno- medicinal practices to cure livestock’s diseases and migration patterns of master sheepherders and pastoral peoples to summer grazing alpine pastures.
