EVALUATION OF CHEMISTRY TEXTBOOKS: SOME CONCERNS

Abstract

The article describes the evaluation of the Chemistry Textbooks of Class XI both Part- I and II (reprinted in August 2019) conducted by Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM), National Council of Educational Research Training (NCERT). The books were published by NCERT based on the National Curriculum Framework- 2005 more than a decade ago and updated at regular intervals. The evaluation reveals that chapters cover the syllabus sufficiently and also appropriate as per the cognitive ability of the learner. However, suggestions were given to modify the physical aspects of the books and also updating it with latest innovations in the field of chemistry.
