Abstract

The retail sector is categorised as Organised and Unorganised retail sectors where the former contributed about 7% of the entire sector, and the latter contributed 93% of the sector. Generally, the market is developed in 5 to 10 years and organised retails claimed a share of 15-25% in the entire retail market of the country. Policy of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation leads to integration of domestic economy with the global economy. India provides an excellent opportunity for foreign investors to invest in the Indian market.
