VALIDATION OF BODY SHAPE QUESTIONNAIRE AMONG SPORTS GIRLS

Abstract

The body shape is mainly defined by your skeletal structure, as well as your muscle and fat distribution. It varies from person to person. The purpose of the study was to validate Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ-34) among sports girls.For the purpose of the study 313 girls were selected randomly from various colleges and schools of Delhi. Subjects were from physical education field. After a critical study of various tests it was decided to use Body Shape Questionnaire which was developed by Cooper (1987).The body shape questionnaire was scientifically authenticated for sports girls representing different parts of Delhi and different levels of performance by establishing reliability, index of reliability alpha coefficient of reliability and computing detailed descriptive statistical.A player scoring on BSQ with new norms if obtains a score Up to 38 then it indicates No Concern of body, anybody scoring from 39 to 95 it indicates mild concern with body, scores from 96 to 124 indicates moderate concern with body and if anybody scores 125 and above it indicates that she has a Marked Concern with her body
