Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine and compare the performance of active mutual fund management with index funds. This paper will include analysis based on 10 actively managed mutual fund and 10 index equity funds. The study will take into consideration three time periods from 2005-2020, divided into horizons of five years. The data gathered will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression to find the correlation between returns of active and passive funds to see relevance in the Indian market. We will be using T-test to prove that the performance of active and passive funds is different.
