Abstract

The Internet and digital innovation have disrupted the worldwide educational system in the past decade. The Indian system of education has undergone a sea change as well. Online education in India is likely to be a $2 trillion industry by 2021, according to a KPMG and Google report. This is evident from the country's exponentially increasing penetration of the Internet and smartphones, which drives digital content and schools, online evaluations, and cloud-based platforms. New ideas such as interactive and experiential learning are now being promoted by innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI), e-learning platforms, and virtual reality.
