Abstract

Udaipur is a spectacular and picturesque Himalayan Hamlet in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It lies on the banks of Chandrabhaga river and surrounded by Himalayan range from all around. The village is renowned for ancient Marikula/Mrikula Mata Temple, incarnation of goddess Durga which serves as a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple is a blend of both Tibetan and Hindu styles of architecture made of stone and wood. The research study gives a comprehensive summary of the resource inventory of the Himalayan Hamlet.
