Abstract

Baba Banda Sigh Bahadar was originally a Vaishanvite Bairagi ascetic , who became Sikh of Guru Gobind Sigh Ji at Nander in 1708. From Nander( then part of Hyderabad Deccan), he was appointed the leader of Sikhs and he came to Punjab to raise the flag of rebellion against Mughal rule. He gained immense power and popularity in a very short span of time and captured many major centers of Mughal power in Punjab and around.
