Abstract

Social development is a process which results in the transformation of social structure in a manner which improves the capacity of the society to full fill it inspirations. It encompasses a commitment to individual well-being of the society. During the first of the Nineteenth Century under the colonial rule, Calcutta, the capital of the British Indian Empire, became the stakeholder of a new model of English education and Western modernity.
