Abstract

The ever increasing population and other developmental activities have put a tremendous pressure on available resources and water is one of these resources. Watershed development at larger scale may become a ray of light if local people’s participation is given due concern. Successes of watershed management depend upon the size, drainage density, and regional situation. Watershed can be classified on the basis of its size, drainage, shape and land use pattern. The role of RS and GIS in the study of watershed identification, delineation, mapping and analysis of watershed and its management has increased these days. It can help in optimizing of water resources in a watershed in a holistic manner.
