Abstract

Forest encroachment is a major cause of environmental degradation throughout the world, and the India in particular, which has rich vegetation. Population pressure, widespread poverty, scarcity of land for cultivation, illegal felling of trees, and non-forestry uses of forest areas have led to rapid forest depletion in the region.
