A STUDY OF SELF CONCEPT AND SELF IMAGE OF FOOT-BALLERS IN RELATION TO PERFORMANCE

Abstract

The study was done with the objective to assess the relationship between the selected psychological variables namely self concept and self image and the football performance of male and female football players. The subjects for the present study were selected from different colleges of University of Delhi, who have participated in their intercollegiate competitions in the year 2005, a total of 80 footballers were selected using random and purposive sampling techniques. The selected subjects were classified into two categories namely high performance and low performance footballer based on their participation as criterion. The variables selected for the study were self concept and self image.
