Abstract

A method to estimate the empirical Green’s function is explained in this paper. This method involves deconvolution and it is applied in frequency domain. For this the seismic record can be converted to frequency domain using Fourier transform where deconvolution is applied and is converted back to the time domain using inverse Fourier transform. The source time functions can be obtained with very few seismic records and for just a single station. The rupture propagation direction and rupture velocity are also estimated. This study is helpful in understanding source processes of earthquakes.
