Securitization refers to the tool or the medium which was basically introduced to recover or to reduce the level of NPAs (Non Performing Assets) in the banking industry including the various financial institutions. It came into existence through the enactment of the SARFAESI Act, 2002. SARFAESI is known for Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest. Years after the enactment of the SARFAESI Act, 2002, it has been realised that it didn’t turned out to be as effective as it was thought to be.
