Abstract

The approximate value of the definite integral can be calculated by applying the technique of numerical integration. We can derive some simple and useful quadrature formulae by using Newton-Cotes Quadrature Formula such as Trapezoidal Rule, Simpson’s One-Third Rule and Simpson’s Three- Eighth Rule. We can also derive formula for area of four strips by using general quadrature formula which is known as Newton-Cotes Quadrature Formula. From this general formula we get number of quadrature formulae by putting n = 1,2,3,4,………………… In comparison Simpson’s One-Third Rule is better to all quadrature formulae.
