Abstract

The objective of the paper is to identify what CSR means for companies in the food and sector. The paper starts out with a definition of the concept of CSR and discussion of potential ‘incentives’ for CSR in the food sector It is intended to help companies in the sector to define or evaluate their CSR strategies, with the emphasis on activities that respond to sector-specific challenges rather than generic CSR solutions. The CSR initiatives already taken by the companies in the food industry are also discussed. The new companies act requirements have further raised the performance bar of the companies in relation to CSR.
