Abstract

A potentially tetradentate ligand has been synthesized via 2-hydroxy benzaldehyde(salicyaldehyde) and ethylene diamine. This ligand has been further reacted with cu(II) compounds to form N-N’-Ethylene-bis(salcylaldiminato)- copper(II). This complex has been further characterized by conductivity measurements, magnetic data, electronic, infrared spectral data. The results suggest that complexes formed are four co-ordinated with square planer configuration. Also the structure of complex (1) and (2) are same. Ligand bind to the central atom through two imino nitrogen and two oxygens.
