This paper aims at discussing the role of Assam State Electricity Board towards economy development of Assam. In order to make the study in a systematic way the entire paper is divided into three parts, the first part entitle ’’theoretical approach’’ provides objectives, methodology, hypothesis and significance of the study. The second parts’ ’Assam State Electricity Board and development of Assam economy ‘’ presents a detail discussion about the role of Assam State Electricity in development of economic position of Assam and also examine how far these roles can be exercised by the Board and various problems behind playing their role. The third part entitled ‘’conclusion’’ gives some major findings or problems which stand on the way of playing this important role by the Assam State Electricity Board. Keeping in view the development of Assam State Electricity Board some suitable measures are also suggested in this part.
