Abstract

Even though foreign policy refers to the sum total of principles, interests and objectives which a countrypromotes while interacting with other countries, it is not afixed concept. As such India's foreign policy was shaped byseveral factors, including its history, culture, geography andeconomy as well as changing international conditions. The end of the cold-war and the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was hoped that unipolarity has arrived. The USA,in other words, became the sole great power. It achievedglobal hegemony, a feat no other country ever accomplished. The ideological struggle between capitalism and communismmelted and paved the way for globalization. Among the mostnotable groupingswereNAFTA(NorthAmerican Free TradeAgreement), European Union, and ASEAN (Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations).
