Abstract
The state of Punjab is called the "Granary of India" or "India's breadbasket ashaving the most fertile and ideal land for agriculture activities like for the crown of wheat, rice, sugar cane, fruits and vegetables. The state of Punjab is putting great contribution in the development of the country as well as to fill the food basket. Here farmers are on a common practice of burning of crop residue and this has become one of the major sourcesof environmental pollution especially air pollution. This practice adversely affects the air quality, leads to nutrient loss, degrade soil properties and cause waste of residue.
