COMPARATIVE STUDY OF PHYSICAL FITNESS COMPONENTSNAMELY SPEED, ENDURANCE AND SHOULDER STRENGTH OF LONG JUMPERS AND JAVELINTHROWERSBOYSTUDENTS OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS OF DISTRICT FARIDABAD

Abstract

This study was an attempt to compare physical fitness components namely muscular strength of arms,agility and explosive strength between Long Jumpers and Javelin Throwers of under 19 year boys of government schools of district- Faridabad. The study was carried out on 204 male students, 102Long Jumpers and 102 Javelin Throwers of government schools of Faridabad. The data was collected by application of tests like Pull-ups, Shuttle Run and Standing Broad Jump. The data was analysed and compared with the help of statistical procedures in which arithmetic mean, standard deviation (S.D.), standard error of mean (SEM), t-test were employed. Long Jumpers students were found to be superior in agility andexplosive strength. Javelin Throwers students on the other hand, were found to be superior in muscular strength of arms.
