Abstract

Urbanization is the process of becoming urban. It is a demographic process whereby an increasing proportion of the population of a region or a country lives in urban areas. Urbanization is the process resulting into increasing in the proportion of urban population to the total population in an area. It is one of the important components of modernization and regional development. Urbanization in an area is a fair index of the level of its socio – economic development (Chandna, 2011).
