Abstract

The study revealed significant variation in acid phosphates and alkaline phosphates activity after administration of Calotropin (Calotropis gigantean extract) in hepotopancreas and nervous tissue of fresh water apple snail Pila globosa. The acid phosphates activity was increased in hepatopancreas while decreased in nervous tissue and alkaline phosphatase activity was elevated in heptopancreas while depilation in nervous tissue of Pila globosa following acute (48 and 96 hrs) and chronic (15 and 30 days) exposure of calotropin. Thus in present observation indicates that the calotropin caused considerable damage to cell of different vital tissue of apple snail Pila globosa at acute and chronic exposure.
