Abstract

Over the decades there has been greater focus on Corporate Governance and the role of Independent director. The Companies Act 2013 brought in different dimension to Gender diversity on the appointment of the board of directors. With the changing dynamic in the different industry it is considered important to induct Women in the Boardroom. It is considered that Women director on board can bring in different prospective to business, they are considered more focused, have eye for detailing, prudent, ethical Etc. Adding Women on board can bring in better result and Governance. Hence this paper attempts to analyze the reasons of Gender inequality in the board room and that there should be Gender diversity in the board room in India for effective and better corporate Governance
