A CORRELATIONAL STUDY OF SUICIDE IDEATION AND PERCEIVED STRESS AMONG ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between suicide ideation and perceived stress and to see the relationship between suicide ideation and psychoticism. The sample consisted of 200 adolescents. The average age of the subjects was 17.9 years. The Scale for Suicide Ideation (Beck, Kovacs, and Weissman, 1979) and Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen, Kamarck and Mermelstein, 1983) were used. The data were analysed with the help SPSS soft ware was used. The result indicated that there is significant positive correlation between suicide ideation and perceived stress.
