TRANSACTIONAL AND TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP STYLES IN TEXTILE INDUSTRY

Abstract

Leadership style is a behaviour which is perceived by the followers around him. It is the result of the philosophy, personality and experience of the leader. It also depends upon the types of the followers and the conditions prevailing in the organization. The objective of the study was to examine leadership style in Textile Industry. The data was collected from five textile factories which were selected conveniently from Punjab (India). Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) Leaders Rater Form short was used at five point Likert scale. A comparative analysis of the mean score of transactional and transformational leadership styles shows that transactional leadership was high among the respondents.
