The successful integration of various small and ‘Independent’ states of the Indian Union was completed soon after we got independence from the shackles of british rule, on 15 Aug, 1947. But the process of Integration in India is still on, even after the 66 years of independence. This is an Astonishing but stark truth. But another truth is more Astounding and disappointing that the process of National integration far from moving in the forward direction is taking a back course. The main challenges which are considered to be threatening to the national integration are economical imbalances and disparities, social injustice, castism, regionalism, linguism, Naxalism, Communalism, etc. But ‘Economic imbalance’ is proving to be great threat to the process of national integration.
