AN ANALYSIS ON MERGER AND ACQUISITIONS PRACTICES FETCHED NEW DEVIATIONS IN THE BANKING SECTOR IN NEPAL: A CASE STUDY OF BAGMATI AND GANDAKI PROVINCE

Abstract

M&A (Merger and Acquisitions) is the common process where by two or more banking and financial institutions get together for collaboration effect. Nepalese banking has experienced M&A since year 2004 and gradually quickening now a day especially after the issuance of merger by laws by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). After the federalism, M&A take places with copious learning in Nepal. This case study is about the M&A impact on employee’s insight in the improvement history of banking in the Federal context. A descriptive analysis with concurrent method applied within 13 financial banks from the three consecutive district (Kathmandu and Chitwan from Bagmati and Pokhara-Kaski from Gandaki Province) taken. Primary interviews with many secondary data obtained from the relevant banks signify the result as: Risk management is rationalising from the series of consultation as well as data obtained from the different sources, the process of merging is emerging in the case study. The study concluded that M&A process is an emerging in the study area. Because of merger impact, regional level of services has been renewed into the national level of series within the same working frame. Network enhancement found in increasing trend, capacity adequacy has enhanced and risk minimisation is the common features concluded from this case study. Participatory management adaptation is on demand, with review and analysis is more effective process to train and update the staff members within the banking system during a process of merger. It is further recommended that regularity body should review and analyse the merger practices and make a long-term plan for the success execution of the business.
