A STUDY TO PROJECT THE POST COVID IMPACT ON INDIAN RMG EXPORTS AND IDENTIFYING SUGGESTIVE ALTERNATIVE MARKETS

Abstract

The virus that triggered its roots for the first time in December 2019 in the city named Wuhan located in Hubei State of China has gradually turned from a health crisis to an economic crisis. Gradually in March as the novel virus escalated endangering around 210 countries WHO declared COVID-19 to be a Pandemic, which lead to the prohibition of travel and industry in many countries including United States, India, Italy, Germany, China and many more as they seized their borders. COVID-19 being more potent than its precursors, has stressed every country with inevitable devastating impacts on social, economic and political spheres. Due to the shutdown of the financial market, seaports and airports the import export activities have majorly suffered. In the Economic portfolio of India, RMG industry has a significant share both in its domestic as well as international trade. Due to adverse impact of the pandemic on both the suppliers and buyers, it is imminent that the said industry and its export will undergo a setback in next few years as both the
