This paper attempts to analyze the status of women Empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir and highlights the issues and challenges faced by them. The Empowerment of women is today, one of the most important concern of 21 century. The women’s of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir are disempowered as Compeard to other states of India. Women rights are snatched by the conflicting situation of Jammu and Kashmir. Mostly Kashmir women’s of Kashmir province are enjoying lower status than that of men. Gender inequality exists regarding access to education and unemployment. It is observed that gender un-equality norms by women are still prevailing in society. Rural women are facing more domestic violence as compared to urban women. It has been found that the participation of women in politics is also low. The present study is mainly based on secondary data. The study concludes by an observation that education and employment are only the two factors that make possible women empowerment.
