A film needs to be read afresh in every era, it must be revisited with new perspective. Every age, every decade throws up new perspective. Films are documents of an age and reflect an era. They are the most potent reportage of the times they were set in. In an economically backward country like India, films become the most potent of all visual cultures as a source of popular and cheap entertainment. In India, cinema gets family audience that watches films repeatedly. That ensures a huge market for the masala films.
