Abstract

Removal of poverty is at highest in order on the agenda of Sustainable Development Goals, which are set to be achieved by 2030. In Developing country like India which is growing at a pace of growth rate of 7.5, the aim becomes to reduce utter poverty in all its forms such as hunger, food security, nutrition, education, employment, women empowerment and hygiene etc. The Development of a country is recognized with the number of people in the country are having a good standard of living. Economic growth only reflects income measurement rather than the development in terms of the standard of living. Education, health, productive assets and empowerment are the actual indicators of development of an economy. The banking sector plays a very important role in battling this problem by providing financial access to the poor and vulnerable pocket of a country. Financial access in the form of credit, insurance and savings make them able to earn their living and raise standard of living.
