Abstract

Throughout history plant have been the most important source of medicine for human health . The world health Organisation (WHO) estimates that upto 80% of the world’ s population rely on plants for their primary health care (Dhope shwarkar, 2004). The State of Bihar is a good reservoir of medicinal plants (Das,Bhattacharya & mudgal, 1999) Like any other plants medicinal plants are also affected by many fungal pathogens like, Fusarium spp. Sclerotium spp., Rhizoctonia spp.& others (Sastry,Thakur and pandotra,1982, meena,2004).However little information is available about their control measures. In recent years utilization of organic soil amendments for management of soil microorganism population has received increased attention as a component of biologically based disease control(Singh and Singh,1984;Lazarovits,2001).
