Abstract

The relationship between Turkey and also the European Union is a very important issue in European integration. With the EU starting accession talks with Turkey, this can be a significant moment for the longer term because the EU deals with a central question that has been on the agenda for over long period. EU-Turkey relations have taken completely different directions. There are significant developments in Greek-Turkish relations, the Cyprus issue, the domestic politics of Turkey together with human rights and also the protection of minorities (Arike: 2006).
