DELHI UNDER THE BRITISH RULE FROM 1803 UP TO 1911

Abstract

The Delhi has been a great and renowned city of the world and its name sums up the pomp and power of the past days. Delhi had been a center of political, cultural metropolis of the Asia since medieval time. It had also witnessed the rise and fall of several empires and rulers. The Sultan Iltumish (1210-36) was first ruler who made Delhi as a capital, afterwards many rulers ruled in Delhi and they also involving in planning of the city. However, Shahjahan was the first Mughal ruler of Delhi who propering planned Delhi city. Mughal ruler Shahajahan founded the Shajahanbad in 1631 A.D. which was located on the west bank of Yamuna River. It was the first
